Hasakah- A gun attack was carried out against Kurds in Paris on December 23, 2022. Emine Kara (nom de guerre: Evin Goyi), one of the pioneers of the Kurdish women’s movement, Mehmet Şirin Aydın and Abdurrahman Kızıl were killed in the gun attack. A tent protest was launched in Hasakah to commemorate those who lost their lives in the massacre. The tent protest launched in the Nasra neighborhood of Hasakah ended last evening.

‘We will maintain their cause’

Members of many organizations such as Kongra Star, Movement for a Democratic Society (TEV-DEM) and Civilian Defense Force (HPC) and the people of Hasakah visited the tent to condemn the attack and commemorate the killed people in Paris. Fatma Elî, member of the Women’s Assembly Committee of the Martyrs' Families made a speech during the protest. “Since October 9, 1998, an international conspiracy has been waged against the Kurdish people to annihilate them. Those who implement these plans are known. We will never forget our martyrs who were killed as part of this conspiracy and we will maintain their cause,” she said in her speech.

‘We will defend the philosophy of freedom despite all attacks’

Pointing out that women have been ignored in society for thousands of years, Fatma Elî said, “Women revolutionaries fighting the patriarchal mentality have been targeted. But we will defend the philosophy of freedom against all attacks. The second massacre took place in Paris and the target of this massacre was against women pioneers. This massacre is not a coincidence. Those who killed Sakine Cansız and her comrades killed Evin and her comrades today. We are their comrades. We will defend our lands, freedom and ideology against all attacks with the slogan Jin, Jiyan, Azadi.”

Fatma Elî also called on the French authorities to reveal those who carried out and directed the attack that took place in France.

The tent protest ended after people chanted slogans.
