Taliban shut down Women’s Voice Radio Station

The Taliban continue to violate women’s rights in Afghanistan. The Taliban fighters have closed the door of Women’s Voice Radio in Badakhshan.

News Center- Since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, they have issued many bans violating women’s rights. The Taliban continue to violate women’s rights in the country. According to local sources, the Taliban closed the door of Radio Sedaye Banovan (Women's Voice Radio) in Badakhshan on March 30 for broadcasting against their policies.

The policies against the radio included not playing music, not broadcasting live programs by women, and not allowing female presenters to speak in a soft voice.

Naglaa Sherzad, the responsible manager of the radio, confirmed the closure of the radio. She said that the radio did not play music after the ban but they recently made radio programs about how girls were deprived of their right to education. She said their radio was shut down because their programs disturbed the Taliban.

Women’s Voice Radio was the only media outlet for women in Badakhshan, which started broadcasting about five years ago.
