TAJÊ: We will keep struggling

The Yazidi Free Women’s Movement (TAJÊ) has released a statement condemning the Turkish attacks on civilians in North and East Syria. “We will keep struggling,” the statement said.

News Center - Turkey continues to attack civilians in North and East Syria. The Yazidi Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Azadiya Jinên Êzîdî-TAJÊ) has released a press statement condemning the silence of the human rights organizations against the attacks. The TAJÊ wrote in the statement that they would keep struggling against the Turkish attacks targeting civilians in Rojava, the Kurdistan Region and particularly in Shengal.

“The Ottoman Empire committed many edicts aiming to annihilate the Yazidis. For this reason, the pioneers of the Yazidis were first targeted. The Yazidi community always has heroes and pioneers. Despite being subjected to 74 edicts, the Yazidis exist by organizing and forming their self-defense forces. And now, the Yazidis resist the mindset of Ottomanism,” the statement said.

“Turkey took over the project of ISIS”

The statement emphasized that the Turkish state took over the project of ISIS to complete it after its defeats in Iraq and Syria.

“Since 2017, Turkey has carried out hundreds of airstrikes in Syria and Iraq. In these attacks, Rojava, Shengal, Makhmur refugee camp and many safe areas were targeted. The Turkish state has been targeting the pioneers and heroes fighting ISIS to liberate Rojava and Shengal. In this way, it tries to avenge ISIS. The occupying Turkish state aims to expand its occupation and violates all international laws by collaborating with the PDK (Kurdistan Democratic Party).”

“The aim is to leave the Yazidis without will”

The statement also emphasized that the Turkish state has used chemical weapons against the guerrillas in the mountains of Kurdistan since April and that the human rights organizations have remained silent against the use of chemical weapons. “The Turkish state kills civilians. A year ago, the Turkish state committed a massacre by shelling the hospital in the village of Sikêniye. This year, it committed a massacre in Zakho. The occupying Turkish state targets and kills civilians in its attacks on Shengal, Rojava and the Kurdistan Region. The human rights organizations remain silent against the war crimes committed by the Turkish state. The occupying Turkish state aims to leave the Yazidis without will and heroes by collaborating with the PDK. For this purpose, it targeted many Yazidi leaders such as Mam Zekî, Seîd Hesen, Zerdeşt Şingalî and Merwan Bedel. But we will keep struggling against the attacks to the end.”
