Support visit from ÖHD and Rosa Women’s Association to Şenyaşar family
Members of the Lawyers Association for Freedom (ÖHD) Diyarbakır branch and Rosa Women’s Association visited the Şenyaşar family to support the family on the 562nd day of the family’s sit-in protest.
Riha - The sit-in protest held in front of the Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were murdered in the attack carried out by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız in the Suruç district of Urfa province on June 14, 2018, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar continues on its 562nd day.
In the morning, Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar came in front of the courthouse to demand justice by unfurling a banner reading, “Justice for the Şenyaşar family, justice for everyone”. Today, the members of the Lawyers Association for Freedom (ÖHD) Diyarbakır branch and Rosa Women’s Association visited the family to support their struggle for justice.
“This tragedy should end”
Making a speech in front of the courthouse, Rosa Women’s Association member Neslihan Çoban pointed out that Emine Şenyaşar has demanded justice in front of the courthouse. “Every minute, every second, she experiences this trauma in front of the courthouse. This tragedy should end. The public opinion should put pressure on the government to ensure justice,” Neslihan Çoban said in her speech.
“They have become a party to the persecution”
“Conscience is an inner judge. After the massacre, the authorities, who made statements against us, have become a party to the persecution faced by us for 562 days by remaining silent,” the Şenyaşar family posted on their social media account by tagging the official accounts of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye and Ministry of Justice.
