Sit-in protest of Şenyaşar family enters its 395th day

Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar have held a sit-in protest in front of the Urfa Courthouse to seek justice for their murdered relatives for 395 days. “Why hasn’t anyone been arrested so far?” the family asked today.

Riha - The sit-in protest started in front of the Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were killed in the attack carried out on June 14, 2018, in the Suruç district of Urfa province by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar, who survived the attack, has continued on its 395th day.

Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar came in front of the Urfa Courthouse in the morning to keep holding their protest. The family held a banner reading, “They killed my husband and two sons! There is not a single arrestee. One of my sons has been held in solitary confinement for four years by the orders of superiors. I demand the immediate release of my son. Justice for the Şenyaşar family, justice for everyone.”

“Enforce the law”

“If the judiciary is independent, why hasn’t a lawsuit been opened for four years about the massacre at Suruç State Hospital? Why hasn’t anyone been arrested so far? Our only demand is that the law should be enforced,” the Şenyaşar family posted today on their social media account.
