Sit-in protest for justice continues on its 714th day

On the 714th day of their sit-in protest for justice, the Şenyaşar family says they will not give up their struggle for justice.

Riha - The sit-in protest held in front of the Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were murdered in the attack carried out by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız in the Suruç (Kurdish: Pirsûs) district of Urfa province on June 14, 2018, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar has entered its 714th day.

In the morning, Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar came in front of the courthouse to seek justice again. Making a speech in front of the courthouse, Ferit Şenyaşar said, “Police, prosecutors and officials at the Ministry of Justice accept that our struggle is a just struggle. However, no step is taken when we demand the enforcement of the law. Prosecutors are left helpless and the law is not enforced. Sometimes, some officials come from Ankara. These officials and the chief prosecutor enter the courthouse from the back door in order not to see the struggle of the mother (Emine Şenyaşar) for justice. This is persecution, injustice. We demand this injustice to end now. Our struggle will continue until this injustice ends.”

 ‘We believe in justice’

“We believe in justice! The energy of people who do what they believe in never ends. Our sit-in protest for justice continues on its 714th day. We have a clear call: Let’s unite for justice now against the persecution of the oppressor,” the Şenyaşar family posted today on their social media account.
