Qamishlo- Women all around the world have shown their reaction to the killing of Kurdish woman Jina Mahsa Amin by Iranian so-called “morality police”. Kurdish opera singer Mizgîn Tahir sent a message to NuJINHA about the killing of Kurdish woman Jina Mahsa Amini.

“Jina was killed because she wanted to live freely”

In the message, singer Mizgîn Tahir, a music teacher at the Rojava Orchestra Academy, said, “Jina Mahsa Amini was a Kurdish woman living in Rojhelat Kurdistan. She was killed by Iranian regime forces because she wanted to live freely. I am a woman with a beautiful voice and I want to sing. I am a beautiful woman and a free woman. Jina Mahsa Amini opposed the strict rules of the regime because she did not want her freedom to be restricted. The patriarchal systems want to oppress women in every way and deprive them of their freedom, so they kill women.

“My soul becomes free with you”

Underlining that freedom is everyone’s right, she said, “Freedom is a victory not only for women, but for all people in the world. If we, as artists, are not free, our art cannot succeed and we cannot send our messages freely. Kurdish woman Jina Mahsa Amini becomes a symbol for us. She will forever be in our hearts. Jina Mahsa Amini, you become a symbol and my soul becomes free with you.”
