Simultaneous house raids in 5 cities: Many detained
Police raided many houses in Mersin, Ankara, Antalya, Adana and İzmir and detained many as part of an investigation launched by the Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
News Center- Turkish police and soldiers raided many houses in Mardin’s Nisêbîn (Nusaybin) and Qoser (Kızıltepe) districts in the morning. In Nusaybin, Peoples’ Democratic Party former District Co-chair Şiyar Koç and village head Faris Alak and a citizen named Fırat Demir have been taken into custody after the raids on their houses.
In the house raids conducted in Kızıltepe, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) former District Co-chair Mahmut Damar and two citizens named Metin Yılmaz and Sami İldem have been taken into custody. According to the local sources, the detained people are accused of “aiding a terrorist organization”. The number of detained people may increase, the reports say.
Raid on the building of TUAY-DER
Turkish police conducted simultaneous house raids in Mersin, Ankara, Antalya, Adana and İzmir as part of an investigation launched by the Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. According to the received reports, the members of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), the Çukurova Association for Assistance for Families of Prisoners and Convicts (Çukurova TUAY-DER) and relatives of prisoners have been detained on charges of “propagandizing for a terrorist organization” and “providing financial support to prisoners”.
In the morning, the police also raided the building of the Çukurova TUAY-DER. The search in the building reportedly continues.
House raids in Ankara
As part of the same investigation, Turkish police raided many houses in Ankara and detained Hakan Yalçın, who was released from prison on May 26, and his brother Özkan Yalçın.
Some of the people taken into custody as part of the investigation based in Mersin are: Çukurova TUAY-DER administrator Selim Ekici and Cengiz Dere, Kadri Ezer and Özkan Yalçın.
