Severe penalties for sexual harassment in Egypt

Egypt's parliament on Sunday passed a law toughening sentences for sexual harassment to at least five years in prison. The amendment makes sexual harassment a criminal offence, as opposed to a misdemeanor.

The Egyptian parliament on Sunday (July 11) passed a law toughening sentences for sexual harassment to at least five years in prison. According to the new law, sexual harassment will be considered as a criminal offence, not as a misdemeanor. The perpetrators of sexual harassment will be sentenced to at least five years in prison.
