Seminar for children in Raqqa

The Social Affairs and Labor Committee of the Raqqa Civil Council held a seminar titled, “Protecting children from social violence” in Raqqa to discuss many issues such as domestic violence and the situation of children living in refugee camps.

Raqqa- A seminar was held in Raqqa to protect children from violence. During the seminar held by the Social Affairs and Labor Committee of the Raqqa Civil Council, many issues such as how to protect children from violence in society were discussed. Many experts attended the seminar held in cooperation with the Fırat (Euphrates) Development Agency.

During the seminar, Dr. Abdel Fattah Hamidi drew attention to the prevalence of violence in child marriages. Maria Al Huseyin, Co-chair of the Children Protection Institution of the Raqqa Civil Council, made a speech and emphasized that the seminar was important to discuss violence against children.

Violence against children in al-Hol Camp

Alaa Muhammed, a board member of the Fırat Development Agency, also made a speech and said that they have carried out several projects for children to protect them from violence.  Emphasizing that children living in camps such as in al-Hol Camp need physical and psychological support and their need should be met, Alaa Muhammed said, “We have achieved great success in our projects. When the war ends, children will need more support.”
