Sakine Cansız commemorated upon her grave

Sakine Cansız, Kurdish female politician who was murdered in Paris on January 9, 2013, was commemorated upon her grave in Dersim on Thursday.

News Center- On January 9, 2013, Sakine Cansız (Sara), one of the founders of the PKK, Fidan Doğan (Rojbîn), Paris Representative of the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK), and Leyla Şaylemez (Ronahî) were murdered in Paris by Ömer Güney, a gunman of the National Intelligence Organization of Türkiye.

 On the 12th anniversary of the murders of three Kurdish women, a commemoration was held upon the grave of Sakine Cansız in Dersim on Thursday with the participation of the members of the Free Women’s Movement (Kurdish: Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA), Berivan Bahçeci, Spokesperson of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Women’s Council, Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) MPs Ayten Kordu and Gülcan Kaçmaz Sayyiğit many other women.

 The women gathered at the entrance of the cemetery and walked to the grave of Sakine Cansız by holding carnations. After a moment of silence, Meryeme Tuma, member of the Peace Mothers’ Initiative, said, “We condemn the killing of women. We do not want mothers to cry anymore. All we want is peace and freedom.”

The commemoration ended after the women placed red carnations on the grave of Sakine Cansız.
