Pregnant woman hospitalized by police in Adana

Police used tear gas and truncheons to end a fight between two groups in the Yüreğir district of Adana province. The police used violence against a pregnant woman and hospitalized her.

News Center- A fight broke out between two groups over the election results of the local authority in the Yamaçlı neighborhood of Yüreğir district, Adana, on Wednesday. Police used tear gas and truncheons against them. A citizen recorded the police violence against the people.

The video shared on social media platforms shows that the police used tear gas and truncheons against the people and repeatedly beat a pregnant woman even though she fell to the ground.

The police detained the members of both groups. According to the received reports, the pregnant woman was taken to a hospital due to the police violence. No information about the woman's health condition has been received yet.

Police violence against DEM Party’s members

On April 2, the members of the People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Adana office protested the usurpation of the will of the people in Van. Police attacked them and detained many people, including DEM Party’s Provincial Co-chair Seyfettin Aydemir. On March 23, two young people were stopped and subjected to violence by police in Adana’s Seyhan district for criticizing Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdoğan.
