Police use tear gas against DEM Party’s Co-mayoral candidate for Mardin

Police used tear gas against DEM Party’s Co-mayoral candidate Devrim Demir for Mardin while she was monitoring the local election procedures.

Mardin- Tension rose between citizens and police officers when Devrim Demir, Co-mayoral candidate of the People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) for Mardin, was monitoring the local election procedures at Atatürk Primary School located in the Mehsert (Ömerli) of Mardin province. Police attacked citizens by using tear gas. The police sprayed tear gas on her eyes.

The co-mayoral candidate was transferred to the Ömerli State Hospital for treatment. A person named Özgür Aksoy was taken into custody while trying to film the police attack.
