Gülistan Alağaş, a member of the Peace Mothers’ Initiative, has died after suffering from a brain paralysis.

News Center- Gülistan Alağaş, a member of the Peace Mothers’ Initiative, has died after suffering from a brain Paralysis. Known as “Mother Gulê”, she waged a struggle to end conflicts for years.

Two week ago, she was hospitalized after suffering from a brain paralysis. Gülistan Alağaş was forcibly displaced from the Erkent village of Siirt’s Pervari district to Adana in 1993. Throughout her life, she struggled for peace. One of her sons, who joined the PKK, died in 1999, when Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan was brought to Turkey. However, his body went missing. Gülistan Alağaş went on hunger strikes many times to demand the isolation imposed on Abdullah Öcalan be lifted and the end of rights violations in Turkish prisons.
