Gaza- Since the “Operation Al-Aqsa Flood” launched by Hamas on Israel on October 7, Israel has been launching airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, targeting civilian settlements. NuJINHA spoke to Palestinian journalist Marah Atalleh about the current situation in Gaza.

‘The smell of death is everywhere’

Marah Atalleh reported that 70% of the killed Palestinians are women and 1,400 people have been trapped under the rubble of destroyed buildings and houses. “The teams of the Palestinian Civil Defence cannot rescue the people trapped under the rubble. The smell of death is everywhere.”

‘Hospitals are out of service’

All injured people are transferred to the hospitals; however, most of the hospitals in Gaza are out of service because hospital generators run out of fuel. The injured people and sick people are treated on the floor, in the corridors, in rooms without anesthesia. Doctors use the flashlight on their mobile phones. 23 ambulances are out of service because they were targeted by Israeli airstrikes. In addition, paramedics are targeted by Israeli airstrikes.”

‘Hundreds of dead bodies are kept in refrigerators’

Marah Atalleh also said that there are many dead bodies and injured people in hospitals. “Hundreds of dead bodies are kept in refrigerators by hospital administrations. The dead bodies will be kept in refrigerators until they will be buried in mass graves. Gaza has been turned into a mass grave.”
