News Center- Political prisoner Nibel Genç was released from Bakırköy Women's Closed Prison on Wednesday after 31 years of imprisonment.

Nibel Genç was expected to be released from prison on September 14, 2024; however, her release was postponed by the Administrative and Observation Board of the prison although she had already served 30 years in prison.

She was welcomed by the members of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) and the Association for Solidarity with the Families of Prisoners and Convicts in Marmara (MA-TUHAYDER).

Nibel Genç made a short speech after being welcomed by women chanting the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadî” slogans. In her speech, she thanked everyone, stressing that there are many sick prisoners in prison and demanding the release of all sick and political prisoners.
