Newroz fire lit in many cities of Rojhilat Kurdistan
Yesterday, the Newroz fire was lit in many cities of Rojhilat Kurdistan. The people often chanted the slogan, “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi” despite the attacks of the security forces.
News Center- Yesterday, fires were lit in many cities of Rojhilat Kurdistan (Kurdistan in Iran) to mark Newroz, annually celebrated on March 21. In the Kutul Qutur village of Khoy, the Kurdish people lit the Newroz fire and then danced around it by chanting the slogan, “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi (English: Women, Life, Freedom)”. The Kurdish people also lit the Newroz fire in the Eviheng town of Sanandaj. Last night, the people wrote “Azadi” on the mountain of Sardasht’s Qale Rash village by fire.
People celebrated Newroz despite the attacks
During the Newroz celebrations, people also protested the Iranian regime. In Mahabad, the regime forces opened fire on the people taking to the streets to celebrate Newroz by chanting anti-regime slogans and injured 40 people. At least nine people were injured in Saqez when the regime forces opened fire on the people celebrating Newroz. Despite the attacks, the people continued to celebrate Newroz by chanting slogans such as “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi” and “Death to the dictator”.
