News Center- The winners of the 31st Musa anter and Free Press Martyrs Journalism Awards, dedicated to Kurdish journalist and author Musa Anter who was assassinated in Amed (Diyarbakır) on September 20, 1992, have been announced.

The awards are given in six categories: “Turkish news”, “Kurdish news”, “Video news”, “Photography (News Photography)”, “Cartoon” and “Women's Journalism in memory of Gurbetelli Ersöz”. The winners will receive their awards at the award ceremony to be held at the Cemil Candaş Cultural Center, located in İstanbul’s Şişli district, on September 22.

Honorary Award to revolutionary women

The winners of this year’s Honorary Award are journalist Pakhshan Azizi, who was sentenced to death by Iran, Gulistan Tara and Hêro Bahadîn, two Kurdish women journalists who were killed in a Turkish drone attack in Sulaymaniyah on August 23, 2024.

Award to Jinnews

The Jury consisting of Banu Güven, Faruk Bildirici, Candan Yıldız, Ali Duran Topuz, Nezahat Doğan and Mehmet Ali Çelebi could not find any news worthy of an award in the “Video News” category. The jury decided to award the Jury Special Award to Dilan Babat, a reporter of Jinnews, a women’s news agency based in Amed (Diyarbakır).

Turkish News Award

The Turkish News Jury consisting of Banu Güven, Faruk Bildirici, Candan Yıldız, Ali Duran Topuz, Nezahat Doğan and Mehmet Ali Çelebi awarded the Turkish News Award to Cengiz Anıl Bölükbaş, reporter of T24.

Photography Award to MA

The Photography Jury consisting of Ramazan Öztürk, Beritan Canözer, Salih Yeşil, Özcan Yaman and Murat Baykara awarded the Photography Award to Mesopotamia Agency (MA) reporter Müjdat Can.

Kurdish News Award

The Kurdish News Jury consisting of Ramazan Ölçen, Nergîz îsmail, Bişar Turgut, Hatice Kamer and Münevver Karademir awarded the Kurdish News Award to Hawar News Agency (ANHA) reporter Silava Ebdulrehman Mihemed Emîn.

Women's Journalism in memory of Gurbetelli Ersöz

The jury consisting of Dilek Arjin Öncel, Bircan Değirmenci, Derya Ceylan, Elif Ekin Saltık and Gülfem Karata awarded the Women’s Journalism in memory of Gurbetelli Ersöz Award to Rahime Karvar for her article series focusing on the experiences of women agricultural workers.

Cartoon Award

The Cartoon Jury consisting of Kemal Gökhan Gürses, Ronî Batte and Erceren could not find any cartoon worthy of an award but decided to honor Halil İbrahim Çoban with an “Encouragement” award.
