Mother of Maryam Arvin: My daughter died because of a head injury in prison
Tayyebeh Nazari, mother of lawyer Maryam Arvin, spoke about the suspicious death of her daughter after she was released from prison on bail. “My daughter died because of a head injury that occurred in prison,” she said.
News Center- Maryam Arvin, a lawyer and member of the Kerman Lawyers Association, was arrested on November 26, 2022 for providing legal support to the families of detained protesters in Sirjan. She was temporarily released on bail on December 13, 2022. She died two months after being released from prison.
While Iranian authorities claim that Maryam Arvin committed suicide, her death remains suspicious. Her mother Tayyebeh Nazari made a statement on an Instagram account opened in the name of her daughter. Her statement said:
“My daughter suffered a head injury in prison. She was given painkillers and this is confirmed by the doctor of the prison. A week after my daughter’s death, she was sentenced to 15 years in prison and 40 lashes.”
When Maryam Arvin was arrested in November 2022, security agents attacked her and dragged her to the ground.
