Mehtab Nasirpour not to act in movies to support banned artists
Iranian theatre and film actress Mehtab Nasirpour has announced that she will no longer act in any movies or theatre plays to be in solidarity with the banned artists.
News Center- On Saturday, Iranian theatre and film actress Mehtab Nasirpour announced on her Instagram that she would no longer act in any movies or theatre plays, “to support my banned colleagues and protest the ban imposed on them by the Ministry of Culture of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” she wrote.
On October 25, Habib Ilbeigi, Deputy Director of Monitoring and Evaluation at the Cinema Organization, announced that some Iranian female artists, who publicly opposed the mandatory hijab law, were banned from acting. Among the banned artists whose names have been made public are Baran Kosari, Vishka Asayesh, Taraneh Alidoosti, and Katayoun Riahi.
On January 17, 2023, Mahtab Nasirpour was summoned to appear in Evin Prison's security court for protesting the killing of protesters of the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi” uprising by Iranian security forces.
