Şirnex – The number of femicide cases continues to increase in Turkey. Most women are killed by their husbands, partners and relatives. While women are subjected to violence, harassment and rape in the country every year, the authorities do not take the necessary measures to protect women.

Last night, a man named Hasan Karaaslan killed his wife Leyla Karaaslan and his three daughters Derya (17) Melek (16) Şerife (13) in the Yeni neighborhood of Şırnak’s İdil district. Emergency health teams and police officers were dispatched to the scene after the incident was reported by the people living in the neighborhood. While Hasan Karaaslan fled the scene, the dead bodies of the woman and her three daughters were sent to Şırnak State Hospital for autopsy.

Then, Hasan Karaaslan reportedly surrendered at the police station.

A funeral is expected to be held today for Leyla Karaaslan and her three daughters.
