Kurdish musician Emel Çiftçi acquitted of terrorism charges
The third hearing of the trial against Kurdish musician Emel Çiftçi was held on Tuesday. The musician has been acquitted of terrorism charges.
News Center- The third hearing of the trial against Kurdish musician Emel Çiftçi was held on Tuesday at the Diyarbakır 4th High Criminal Court.
Emel Çiftçi did not attend the hearing due to her health problems while her lawyer Şerzan Yelboğa was present.
The prosecution submitted the opinion and demanded a prison sentence against the musician on charges of “leading an illegal organization”, citing the statements made by the secret witness named Ulaş.
Her lawyer Şerzan Yelboğa demanded the acquittal of her client, pointing out that there was no evidence, except the statements of the secret witness. Musician Emel Çiftçi has been acquitted of all terrorism charges.
Kurdish musician Emel Çiftçi was arrested in Amed (Diyarbakır) on August 21, 2023 as part of an investigation launched by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on charges of “membership in an illegal organization” and “leading an illegal organization” based on the statements made by the secret witness named Ulaş.
