Kurdish activist Susan Hassanzadeh released on bail

Susan Hassanzadeh, a Kurdish civil activist and Kurdish language teacher from Bukan, has been released on bail.

Iranian security forces forcibly arrested Susan Hassanzadeh at her home in Bukan on May 15, 2024 and took her to an unknown location. After a while, she had a short phone call with her family, informing that she was held in a detention center in Urmia.

Working as a Kurdish language teacher for 17 years, Susan Hassanzadeh had been repeatedly summoned and interrogated by the security services for her activism.

The reasons for her arrest and the charges against her are still unknown.
