KJAR member Varisheh Moradi imprisoned in Evin prison without trial

Varisheh Moradi, a women’s rights defender and member of the East Kurdistan Free Women Society (KJAR), has been imprisoned in Evin prison without trial.

News Center- Varisheh Moradi, a women’s rights defender and member of the East Kurdistan Free Women Society (KJAR), has been imprisoned in Ward 209 of Evin Prison without trial although she was arrested on August 1, 2023.

Since she was transferred to Ward 209 of Evin Prison on May 14, she has been banned from family visits and phone calls by Abolqasem Salavati an Iranian judge and former head of the 15th branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Tehran, Iran

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network reported on May 16 that Varisheh Moradi started a hunger strike to protest having been transferred to Ward 209 of Evin Prison.

On August 1, 2023, Verishe Moradi was arrested and taken to an unknown location by the members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Sanandaj. After a four-month interrogation period, she was transferred to Evin Prison in Tehran. Even though more than 300 days have passed since her arrest, she has not stood trial yet.
