KJAR calls on Warisha Moradi to end her hunger strike
The East Kurdistan Free Women Society (KJAR) has published a written statement calling on Warisha Moradi, women’s rights defender imprisoned in Evin prison, to end her hunger strike.
News Center- Warisha Moradi, a women’s rights defender and member of the East Kurdistan Free Women Society (KJAR) has been on an indefinite hunger strike in Evin prison since October 10, marking the World Day against the Death Penalty, to protest the death penalty in Iran.
The health of Warisha Moradi has been deteriorating after 15 days of her hunger strike, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) reported on Thursday. According to the KHRN, Warisha Moradi’s condition is critical due to low blood pressure, migraine attacks, and severe joint and back pain.
“Medical staff at Tehran’s Evin Prison have expressed concern for her health, urging her to end the hunger strike. However, Moradi has refused to receive IV and continues her protest,” the KHRN said.
The East Kurdistan Free Women Society (KJAR) has published a written statement on Friday, calling on Warisha Moradi to end her hunger strike.
“Warisha Moradi, a member of the KJAR, was arrested by the security forces of the Iranian regime in August 2023. She was subjected physical and physiological torture for months. She faces charges of ‘armed rebellion against the state’. She did not attend her own trial on August 4 in solidarity with death row prisoners Sharifeh Mohammadi and Pakhshan Azizi,” the statement said. “She started an indefinite hunger strike on October 10, 2024, the World Day against the Death Penalty to protest the death penalty in Iran.”
Calling on Warisha Moradi to end her hunger strike, the KJAR said, “Our committees will continue her hunger strike. We announce that we will start a 3-day rotating hunger strike in various countries in Europe to support Warisha and all political prisoners in Iran. We call on everyone fighting for freedom to support our hunger strike, Warisha Moradi and all women imprisoned in Iran.
“The real winners of the war will be humanity and freedom! Jin Jiyan Azadi!”
