Kajal Rahmani Declares Hunger Strike After Arrest Alongside Her Husband and Brother
Kajal Rahmani has declared a hunger strike to protest her arrest alongside her husband and brother, and the lack of information about their fate, following a raid carried out days ago by intelligence forces without judicial orders.
News Center_ Iranian intelligence forces recently raided the homes of the siblings Kajal and Daniel Rahmani, as well as the home of her husband, without presenting any judicial order, and arrested everyone without disclosing the reasons for the arrest or the location of their detention.
Kajal Rahmani, who comes from a Kurdish family, has begun a hunger strike to protest her arrest alongside her husband, Isa Fayzi, and her brother Daniel Rahmani, as well as due to the lack of any information about their condition, after they were detained by intelligence forces days ago.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network reported that Kajal Rahmani was transferred, hours after her interrogation at the detention center of the Information Administration in Kamyaran, to the women’s wing of the correctional facility, where she has been held in solitary confinement ever since.
According to the report, she is transferred daily to a security center for further interrogations before being returned to the detention center at night. She has begun a hunger strike to protest her arrest and the lack of any information about the condition of her husband and brother.
Since the detention of Isa Fayzi and Daniel Rahmani, no details have been provided about their whereabouts, health conditions, or legal status, despite the family’s repeated appeals to the intelligence agencies and judicial authorities in Kamyaran and Sanandaj, all of which have been with silence.
The three activists have also been prevented from communicating with their families or appointing a lawyer, raising fears that they may be subject to pressure or torture and that a security case may be opened against them. Security forces had cordoned off the homes of Kajal Daniel Rahmani in Kamyaran and stormed them without a judicial warrant, arresting them violently.
Isa Fayzi is a civil activist and former political prisoner. He was arrested in 2018 during a campaign targeting civil activists and was released after five months on bail, before the Revolutionary Court issued a suspended sentence of six years in prison against him on charges of "acting against national security."
The Rahmani family has been arrested several times in the past. Kajal and Daniel belong to the Kurdish Dadjah tribe, while their brother, Jamal Rahmani, was a member of the Board of Directors of the Democratic and Freedom Association (KODAR) for Eastern Kurdistan and was killed by the Revolutionary Guards in 2018.
Since then, the family has demanded the return of his body or to know his burial place, without receiving any response. Another brother, Rabin Rahmani, is also a former political prisoner and a member of the Board of Directors of the Kurdistan Human Rights Network.
