Amed-The Justice Watch started by the families of prisoners demanding the release of sick prisoners and the prisoners, who are not released despite having completed their sentences, has entered its 364th day.

For a year, the families of prisoners have gathered in front of the Diyarbakır Courthouse, the Council of Forensic Medicine (ATK) and Diyarbakır D-type Prison for a year to demand the release of sick prisoners and the prisoners, who are not released despite having completed their sentences for a year.

Today, the families gathered in front of the Diyarbakır D-type Prison with the support of the members of the Association for Assistance, Culture and Solidarity with the Families that Lost Their Relatives in the Cradle of Civilizations (MEBYA-DER), the Association for Assistance and Solidarity with the Families of Detainees and Convicts (TUHAY-DER), the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) and the Mesopotamia Language and Culture Research Association (MED-DER).

“Our children are left to die”

Nazime Boltan, mother of Civan Boltan, who has been kept in the Bolu F-type Prison even though he does not have an eye and an arm, said that they have demanded justice for sick prisoners and the prisoners, who are not released despite having completed their sentence, for a years; however; they haven’t received an answer yet. Underlining that she has not seen her son for five years, Nazime Boltan said, “Tomorrow will mark the first anniversary of our Justice Watch. For a year, we have demanded their release and visited many organizations. Our children are sick and they are left to die. Since we started our Justice Watch, the rights violations in prisons have increased.”

Emphasizing that prisoners are subjected to torture in prison, Nazime Boltan said, “We are here to be the voices of all prisoners. Today, we are in front of the prison to demand the release of prisoners.”
