Journalists sent to prison: This robber order will break down
A Turkish court has issued a pre-trial detention order against journalists Dicle Müftüoğlu and Sedat Yılmaz and three more people. “This robber order will break down,” shouted journalists after the court decision.
Ankara- On May 29, Turkish police raided many houses in 15 cities as part of an investigation launched in Ankara and detained 19 people, including Dicle Fırat Journalists’ Association Co-chair Dicle Müftüoğlu and Mesopotamia Agency (MA) editor Sedat Yılmaz. Yesterday, 19 people were referred to court.
Five sent to prison
Ankara Criminal Court of Peace on Duty has issued the pre-trial detention order against journalists Dicle Müftüoğlu and Sedat Yılmaz and more three people; Erol Balcı, Abdurrahim Tanyeli and Ramazan Debe. Other 13 people have been released under judicial control and they have been banned from travelling abroad.
After the court decision, journalist Sedat Yılmaz shouted, “This robber order will end in 10 days; it has been broken down, it will be broken down.”
