News Center- Journalist Rojin Altay, an employee of Yeni Yaşam newspaper, was taken into custody at Sabiha Gökçen Airport on January 28 as part of an investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. After four days in custody, she was released under judicial control pending the trial on February 1.

The final hearing of the trial against her was held today by the Istanbul 22nd High Criminal Court. At the hearing, the prosecutor demanded prison sentence against Rojin Altay on charges of “propagandizing for a terrorist organization” for retweeting a tweet about Kurdish politician Sakine Cansız, who was killed in Paris.

Journalist Rojin Altay has been sentenced to one year and three months in prison on charges of “propagandizing for a terrorist organization”. The court has ruled to defer the announcement of the verdict.
