Journalist Evrim Kepenek detained in police raid on her home
Bianet's women and LGBTI+ rights editor Evrim Kepenek has been detained during a police raid at her residence in Istanbul’s Beyoğlu district.
News Center- Turkish police raided the house of Bianet's women and LGBTI+ rights editor Evrim Kepenek today afternoon.
Police officers attempted to search her home. After Evrim Kepenek and her friends at home objected to the search, police officers called the mukhtar of the Çukurcuma Neighborhood to the scene. After the mukhtar's arrived at home, the police began the search without waiting for the lawyer of Evrim Kepenek.
After the search, the police officers handcuffed Evrim Kepenek and took her in custody. The reason for her detention is still unknown.
