Jinnews: Men killed 24 women in March
In Turkey, men killed 24 women and 24 women died under suspicious circumstances in March, according to Jinnews, an all women news agency in Turkey.
News Center- Jinnews, an all-women news agency based in Amed (Diyarbakır), has released its March 2024 report on femicide in Turkey by compiling news from local and national newspapers, news websites and news agencies.
In Turkey, men killed 24 women and two children and the deaths of 24 women and two children were recorded as suspicious, the report said.
The report noted that the policy of impunity by the judiciary causes women to be victims of crimes.
“In March, eight women were killed in Istanbul, two in Erzurum, two in Mersin, one in Kütahya, two in Ankara, one in Muğla, one in Bitlis, one in Izmir, one in Adana, one in Êlih (Batman), one in Kocaeli, one in Dîlok (Antep), one in Amed (Diyarbakır) and one in Çanakkale,” the report said.
Nine women killed by their spouses
According to the report, nine women were killed by their spouses, three by their ex-spouses, one by her intimate partner, one by a man she did not know, two by their partners, one by her father, two by their ex-partners, three by their sons, one by her brother and the identity of a man, who killed a woman, was not determined.
