Iranian regime increases pressure on women

The Iranian regime has sentenced While Iranian university student Mercan İshak to five years in prison for participating in anti-regime demonstrations while Derya Talibani was detained by the Iranian Intelligence Agency and then she has been sent to prison. The reason for her arrest is unknown.

Every day, more women have been detained or arrested. According to the received reports, a university student Mercan İshak and Derya Talibani have been sent to prison in Iran.
On November 17, 2019, Mercan İshak, a student of the Tehran University, was taken into custody for participating in anti-regime demonstrations. After held in custody for 18 days, she was released on bail. On February 14, Mercan İshak was sentenced to five years in prison by the court for participating in an anti-regime demonstration on September 8, 2020.
Derya Taliban, originally from Mahabad city of Iran, was detained on December 20 without any justification. According to the received report, Derya was taken to Urmia city to be questioned by the Iranian Intelligence Agency. After being questioned, Derya was sent to a prison in Mahabad. The reason for her arrest is unknown.
