Iranian artist Elham Modaresi leaves Iran to undergo liver transplant
Iranian artist Elham Modaresi, who was temporarily released from prison on bail, has managed to leave Iran for a liver transplant.
News Center- Iranian artist Elham Modaresi, who was arrested in the Karaj city of Iran by Iranian intelligence agents on November 2, 2022, was temporarily released from prison on bail in February because she suffers from a genetic liver disorder and requires urgent medical care.
According to the received report, she managed to leave Iran to undergo a liver transplant. The artist has been reportedly hospitalized in Turkey and she needs an urgent liver transplant.
Many human rights organizations launched petitions demanding the immediate release of the artist to receive treatment.
On November 2, 2022, Elham Modaresi was taken from her home in Karaj by Iranian intelligence agents and transferred to Kachoui Prison in Karaj on charges of “disturbing public order and comfort” and “propagating against the regime”. She was psychologically tortured in prison and interrogated for long hours while blindfolded.
