Iran: At least 20,648 children were married in first 6 months of 2022
In the first six months of 2022, at least 20,648 children were forced into marriage and 1,085 children gave birth, according to the report of the Statistical Centre of Iran.
News Center- The Statistical Center of Iran has released a report on child marriage in Iran. In the first six months of 2022, 20,648 girls under the age of 15 were married and 1,085 girls gave birth, 12 of those married under the age of 15 were boys, according to the report.
The report also said that the number of children married under the age of 15 could be higher.
In Iran, the legal age for marriage is 13 for girls and 15 for boys
