‘Iran and Afghanistan will be cleared of misogynists’

“Iran and Afghanistan will be cleared of misogynists,” Yalda Ahmad, an Afghan psychologist, said, condemning the death sentences against labor activist Sharifeh Mohammadi and journalist Pakhshan Azizi by the Iranian regime.

Kabul- Iran continues to use the death penalty against opponents, particularly Kurdish citizens in order to suppress the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi (Women, Life, Freedom)” uprising. In July 2024, the Iranian regime sentenced labor activist Sharifeh Mohammadi and Kurdish journalist Pakhshan Azizi to death. Afghanistan is one of the countries where women are deprived of their rights. Despite everything, the women in both countries never give up demanding freedom.

‘Wherever there is oppression, there is resistance’

The death sentences against two women in Iran are also condemned in Afghanistan. “The Islamic Republic of Iran is very afraid of opponents, particularly women, and tries to silence the voices of opposition,” said Yalda Ahmad, an Afghan psychologist and women’s rights activist. “But wherever there is oppression, there is resistance.”

‘I am in solidarity with the women resisting in Iran’

Iranian people and women resist oppression, Yalda Ahmad said. “Although the Islamic Republic of Iran kills and executes women, men and children, the struggle and resistance against it will increase. As an Afghan psychologist, I express that I am in solidarity with the women resisting in Iran.”

‘The perpetrators will prosecuted by a tribunal established by people’

Yalda Ahmad concluded her speech, saying, “Like Iranian women, the women of my country are tortured in the most heinous ways every day in the prisons of the Taliban. But we all know that this bloodshed will not go unpunished. One day, Iran and Afghanistan will be cleared of misogynists and the perpetrators will be prosecuted by a tribunal established by people. Long live the solidarity of women all over the world! Long live the struggle for the rights of the Iranian people! No to executions! No to the Islamic Republic of Iran!”
