Hamideh Zerai arrested, transferred to Lakan prison in Rasht

Hamideh Zeraei, a former political prisoner, was arrested and transferred to Lakan prison in Rasht on Monday.

News Center- Hamideh Zeraei, a former political prisoner, was arrested and transferred to Lakan prison in Rasht by Iran’s security forces on Monday.

Hamideh Zeraei, a master’s student in the field of financial management at Tehran University of Science and Research, had previously been arrested three times by Iran’s security forces.

She was first arrested on November 3,2022 during the nationwide protests that sparked in Iran following the killing of Jina Mahsa Amini by Iran’s so-called “morality police” after attending the funeral ceremony of Hadis Najafi. She was released after 97 days in detention.

On May 29, 2023, she was arrested again during an armed raid by Revolutionary Guard intelligence forces at her home in Karaj. She was sentenced to one year in prison by the first branch of the Revolutionary Court in Karaj on charges of “propaganda activity for the benefit of groups opposed to the Islamic Republic of Iran”. After serving nine months in prison, she was released from prison in March 2024.

On June 5, 2024, she was arrested and transferred to the Lakan prison in Rasht after being summoned to the Revolutionary Court in Rasht. On June 12, 2024, she was released from prison on bail.
