Gretchen Dutschke-Klotz sends message of support to Abdullah Öcalan
“I attach great importance to the ongoing negotiation processes between Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and the Republic of Türkiye,” German-American author Gretchen Dutschke-Klotz said in a video message.

News Center- Gretchen Dutschke-Klotz, a German-American author and former activist, has shared a video message about the “Call for Peace and Democratic Society” made by Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan on February 27, 2025.
“I attach great importance to the ongoing negotiation processes between Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and the Republic of Türkiye and I value the will of the Kurdish people for a common life and a democratic society,” she said in the video message.
“All obstacles that stand in the way of the Kurdish people's active participation in democratic politics must be removed and a peaceful and voluntary coexistence among people must be established. Their fight for gender equality and ecology is inspiring for all of us.
“I hope that Öcalan’s efforts are not in vain. In any case, this opportunity must be seized. I think this is a very good thing if it could really lead to democracy. This is our hope. This opportunity perhaps leads to the democratization of Türkiye, even of Syria. This is our hope for these countries.”
Gretchen Dutschke-Klotz is a German-American author and former activist. In West Berlin and West Germany in the 1960s, she was active with her husband Rudi Dutschke in the Socialist Students Union (SDS) and the Federal Republic's broader.
