Four killed, more than 100 injured in Iran during protests over death of Mahsa Amini
Four people have been killed, more than 100 people have been injured in the protests held in Iran and Rojhelat for Mahsa Amini, who was tortured to death in custody by Iranian morality police.
News Center- Mahsa Amini, 22, was detained by Iranian morality police for improperly wearing the hijab when she was on a visit to Tehran with her family. She was hospitalized after being tortured in custody by morality police. After fighting for her life in a coma, she passed away at hospital on September 16. Her death sparked protests and demonstrations across the country.
According to the received reports, four people were killed and more than 100 people were injured in Rojhelat, Iran’s Kurdish region, on Monday when Iranian security forces opened fire on the protesters. The number of killed and injured people are as follows:
“One person was killed and more than 10 people were injured in Dehgolan, two killed and more than 30 people injured in Saqez, one killed, more than 40 people injured in Diwander, more than 10 people injured in Mahabad, seven injured in Bukan, 10 injured in Kamyaran, 20 injured in Qorveh, 11 injured in Bijar, eight in Baneh and 11 in Takab. A 10-year-old girl is in critical condition after being shot in the head by security forces during the protest in Bukan and a 60-year-old woman is in critical condition after being injured during a protest in Mahabad.”
The reports also say that many people have been taken into custody and the number of the detained people is unknown yet.
General strike in Rohlehat
Yesterday, a general strike started in Rojhelat to protest the death of Mahsa Amini in police custody. Today, shopkeepers have closed up their shops and children did not go to school in Piranshahr, Mahabad, Sanandaj, Saqqez and Shino.
