Floods and lighting strikes kill at least 15 in Afghanistan
Lightning strikes and floods have killed at least 15 people in Afghanistan.
News Center- Floods caused by heavy rains and lightning strikes in the Ghor province and Herat city of Afghanistan have killed at least 15 people. Due to floods, 1,142 hectares of agricultural land was flooded, 11,450 cattle perished, 189 residences were completely or partially destroyed, the authorities said on Tuesday.
500 families displaced by floods
The residents of Herat reported that the floods completely destroyed 30 houses and killed four people from the same family. According to the received reports, the floods caused road closure between Chahar Sada and Marghab districts of the Ghor province and displaced 500 families in the region. The Ministry of Refugee and Repatriation reported that the displaced families were living in the mountains and were in urgent need of humanitarian aid.
In the Uruzgan province, seven people died after being struck by lightning. Lightning strikes injured 10 people.
