Feminist organizations in Algeria announce their program for IWD
As International Women's Day approaches, feminist organizations in Algeria have announced their joint program for International Women’s Day. As part of their program, they will organize self-defense workshops for women to protect themselves from violence.

Algeria- Like all women all around the world, Algerian women have struggled for their rights to work and education and to enact laws protecting them from all forms of violence. Feminist and women’s organizations in Algeria have announced their joint program for International Women’s Day, on March 8.
Azetta Association will launch its first self-defense workshop for women
According to the statement released by the women’s organizations, Azetta Association will organize its first virtual self-defense workshop for women on March 4 with the participation of karateka Lamia Matoub, winner of bronze medals at the World and African Championships.
Self-defense workshops
Lydia Benbouzid spoke to NuJINHA about their workshop. “This workshop will be for the benefit of women and girls. They will learn basic self-defense moves to protect themselves against harassment, violence, and rape. We aim to organize more workshops to support women. These workshops will be free for women,” she said.
Awareness-raising campaign
Women’s organizations in Algeria launched an awareness-raising campaign for women, children, and youth. Speaking about the campaign, Hayat Ayat Aba said, “We launched the campaign on February 27 in Algiers, Blida, and Tizi Ouzou cities. The campaign will continue until March 8.”
