“We want women to be visible”
Çilem Doğan, the organizer of the event in Amed, spoke about the importance of the event and said, “The Fancy Women’s Bike Ride is organized every year to increase the visibility of women, to give them the opportunity to represent themselves and to reinforce the demand for safe cycling for women. We, as thousands of women, want to do our best in order to leave a cleaner and livable world to our children. We wish women to be more visible and take responsibility in society.
“Cities should be redesigned”
“We call on governments to take immediate action against the climate crisis. Cities should be redesigned to save our world. We demand public spaces to be available for common use, particularly for women, children and old people. We demand safer spaces for pedestrians and cyclists. We demand Sundays to be declared as car-free days.”
