Amed-The Justice Watch started by the families of prisoners demanding the release of sick prisoners and the prisoners, who are not released despite having completed their sentences, has entered its 371st day. Today, the families of prisoners tried to issue a statement; however, they were prevented by police due to the seven-day ban on “Gatherings, marches, press briefings, sit-ins, and protests” issued by the Diyarbakır Governor’s Office.

Reacting to the ban, Reşahat Ada, sister of sick prisoner Hamdusena Ada, said, “We condemn the ban issued by the Diyarbakır Governor’s Office. We will keep demanding the rights of seriously sick prisoners everywhere. We are prevented today but we will hold our watch next week to demand the release of prisoners.”

“We will keep voicing our demands”

Herdem Mervanî, daughter of seriously sick prisoner Abdulhalim Kırtay, said, “Our demands are known; however, the governor’s office has issued a ban to silence us. We will keep voicing our demands no matter what happens.”
