Qamishlo- The Turkish Intelligence Organization (MIT) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) keep targeting pioneering Kurdish women. On May 2, Kurdish politician Azime Arsun was arrested by the KDP forces at the Erbil International Airport. In an interview with NuJINHA, Evîn Paşo, head of the Women’s Council in the Cizîrê Region, spoke about the recent attacks against pioneering Kurdish women by the KDP and MIT.

‘Pioneering women are targeted by the enemy’

“The unity of the Kurdish people is important for freedom,” Evîn Paşo said, “We must struggle for the unity of all parts of Kurdistan.” Evîn Paşo said that the Democratic Nation project is a project that can solve all the problems of the Middle East and global conflicts in the 21st century. “The solution was found by leader Abdullah Öcalan and the one who can achieve this is women. For this reason, the pioneering women are targeted by the enemy. Despite all the attacks, women break the chain of slavery and struggle for freedom.”

‘The invaders should not be allowed to deepen the crisis’

Stressing that the history of Kurdistan is full of resistance, Evîn Paşo said, “Many heroes sacrificed their lives for the freedom of Kurdistan. Thanks to thousands of heroes, the Southern Kurdistan region enjoys its autonomy today. A firm attitude must be taken against the ongoing attacks on Southern Kurdistan and the invaders must not be allowed to deepen this crisis.”

‘Women always face risks in Southern Kurdistan ’

Pointing to the existence of the MIT in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Evîn Paşo criticizes the Kurdistan regional government for allowing the MIT to be active in the region.

“Kurdish people have been fighting for decades. MIT has killed our comrades. Nagihan Akarsel was one of our comrades killed by MIT. Her death is a great loss for women and all Kurdish people. In addition, some representatives of the Autonomous Administration were also killed by MIT. Ferhat Derik was one of them. Activist women always face risks in Southern Kurdistan. Pioneering Kurdish women are always targeted by the Turkish state.”

Condemning the KDP for working coordinately with the MIT, Evîn Paşo called on women and all people to “take a firm attitude against the ongoing attacks of the MIT and the cooperation of the KDP with the MIT in Southern Kurdistan. Our people must stand against Turkish fascism. Don’t keep silent about the arrest of Azime Arsun, take a firm attitude.”
