“Dirty games played in Shengal are the continuation of the conspiracy”
Women of Shengal say they will never accept the agreement signed between the Federal Government of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government on the fate of Shengal on October 9, 2020. The dirty games played in Shengal during Iraq’s parliamentary elections are the continuation of the conspiracy, they say.
Shengal- Iraqi government, Turkey, and KDP signed an agreement on the status of Shengal on October 9, 2020. They never asked the opinions and thoughts of the people of Shengal, who have governed themselves since 2014. Women of Shengal think what happened on October 9, 2020, happened in Shengal again during Iraq’s parliamentary elections.
Women of Shengal think the agreement signed on October 9, 2020, is the continuation of the conspiracy against Kurdish Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who left Syria on October 9. “They specifically chose that date because it has a meaning,” says Pakize Celal, who lives in Shengal.
“They try new methods on us and the Kurdish people every year on October 9. The aim of the invaders' attacks on Shengal is to complete the conspiracy that started on October 9. The dirty games played in Shengal during Iraq’s parliamentary elections are the continuation of the conspiracy. The names of many of us weren’t added to the voter list. The elections were unfair in Shengal because they don’t recognize our will.”
“They want to break the will of Yazidi women”
Zozan Simo lives in the Guhbal village of Shengal. “All powers play dirty games against Shengal,” Zozan Simo says, adding, “They know that when women organize themselves with the philosophy of leader (Abdullah Öcalan), no power can stand against them. For this reason, they want to break the will of Yazidi women. Our society was an oppressed society before knowing him. He is the solution to every problem. Holding him in prison is an injustice practice. The states should end this injustice.”
