Detention period of 24 people detained in Hakkari extended
The detention period of 24 people, who were detained in house raids in Colemêrg (Hakkari), has extended for four days. One of the detainees, Fatma Bulut has been reportedly hospitalized in detention due to hypertension.
News Center- On August 15, Turkish police raided many houses in Colemêrg (Hakkari) and its districts Gever (Yüksekova) and Çelê (Çukurca) in the morning. 24 people, 20 of them women, including members of the Peace Mothers’ Initiative, were taken into custody.
The detention period of 24 people held in the Hakkari Police Department has been reportedly extended for four days. According to the received reports, Fatma Bulut, who suffers from hypertension, has been transferred to hospital since August 15. Her lawyers requested their client’s process of testifying at the police department to be started; however, their request was rejected by the Hakkari Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The names of detained 24 people are: Faysal Açar, Sadet Değirmenci, Basri Gür, Emine Özdemir, Ayhan Dayan, Duriye Bor, Emine Özdel, Fatma Bulut, Feride Ağrali, Hasfet Fendik, Hamail Vural, Hevidar Shaban Ali, Hünaf Safali, Mahsuna Akın, Münire Bayram, Sabriye Ürek, Seher Karagöz, Süheyla Saygı, Zahferan Çağala, Zeynep Tokçu, Kafiye Canan, İsmail Ertunç, Halime Yılmaz and Senia Geylan.
