Qamishlo (Qamishli)- Dara Zanebûnê (English: The Tree Knowledge) Center for Child Development and Education in the city of Qamishlo provides education to children in a safe and creative environment. The center aims to reveal the skills and the talents of children by organizing educational programs, art and cultural and sports activities.
NuJINHA spoke to Munira Murad, an executive of the center, about the aims and objectives of the center.
The aim is to develop children's skills
“We had wanted to start such a project since 2010; however, we did not find an opportunity to start it,” Munira Murad told us. “Since the revolution in Rojava, the people of North and East Syria have had many opportunities to develop their society. In 2025, we opened the center in the city of Qamishlo to develop children’s skills.”
At the center, education is provided to children aged 8-18, Munira Murad said. “The center provides many educational programs to educate and develop their skills and talents because children are our future. The center also provides courses such as music, art, sports and karate courses to children. We first try to understand the talents of children and then direct them to courses that will attract their interest.”
Children learn Kurdish, Arabic and English
The center provides education in three languages to children. “Since Kurdish is their mother language, they first receive education in Kurdish. Then, they learn Arabic and English. The families of the children financially support the center because the center has no income, providing all courses free.”
They plan to open branches in other cities
Munira Murad called on all parents to send their children to the center so that children will develop their skills and talents. “We plan to open the branches of the center in other cities such as Hasakah, Amuda, Dirbêsiyê (Dirbasiyah) and Til Temir. We hope all parents will send their children to the center to learn how to write and read and develop their skills.”
