Congress of TAJÊ ends with slogan, ‘Jin, Jiyan, Azadî’
Yazidi women, who finalized their second congress with the slogan, ‘Jin, Jiyan, Azadî’, declared the YJŞ as their official defense forces.
Shengal - The Yazidi Free Women's Movement (Kurdish: Tevgera Azadiya Jinên Êzîdî-TAJÊ) held its second congress with the motto, “We will protect ourselves against genocidal attacks, we will protect the freedom of women and society”. In addition to 250 delegates, many Arab women, members of the YJŞ and many guests attended the congress, which was held on the 7th anniversary of the liberation of Shengal. The 2nd congress of the TAJÊ ended after women made important decisions.
They declare the YJŞ as their official defense forces
At the congress, the TAJÊ declared the Yazidi (Êzîdxan) Women’s Units (YJŞ) as their official defense forces and announced that the TAJÊ Coordination will also consist of nine people. The women also decided to be in touch with the Yazidi women in Europe. The TAJÊ also decided to change its flag and to hold its congress once in two years.
Call for the prosecution of the KDP
TAJÊ member Lava Şengali made the closing speech of the congress and she called for the prosecution of the KDP and ISIS. “We call on the states to prosecute the KDP. The KDP did not protect the people when ISIS attacked Shengal and left the people unprotected. For this reason, we demand the KDP be prosecuted. We, as Yazidi women, will grow our organization and strengthen ourselves,” she said in her speech.
Women finalized their congress after chanting the slogan, “Jin, Jiyan, Azadî (Women, Life, Freedom)”.
