Conference of Yazidi Women’s Renaissance ends
The Conference of Yazidi Women’s Renaissance ended on Thursday after the announcement of the final declaration. At the conference, women decided to strengthen their struggle to ensure the physical freedom of Abdullah Öcalan.

Shengal (Sinjar)- The Conference of Yazidi Women’s Renaissance was held by the Yazidi Free Women's Movement (Kurdish: Tevgera Azadiya Jinên Êzîdî-TAJÊ) in Shengal on Thursday with the participation of about 100 Yazidi and Arab women.
The conference ended after the announcement of the final declaration. “Leader Apo ‘Call for Peace and Democratic Society’ started a new process,” the final declaration said. “Leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan) defined this call as a Renaissance for the Yazidi people. Therefore, we discussed the role of women in this renaissance at the conference and we decided to join the struggle for the democratic process.
“In the history of Yazidism, women have always played a leading role in protecting their culture. However, women were excluded and ignored from society in all facets of life by a sexist and patriarchal mindset. Our community, especially women, have faced genocide and decrees. However, the ideology and thoughts of leader Apo prevented the 74th edict (genocide) against us. Following the 74th edict, we, as women and society, started organizing and educating ourselves around the ideology and thoughts of leader Apo, paving the way for the renaissance of the Yazidi community, especially women. In his last message to our community, leader Apo stated that the edict had ended, emphasizing that women should organize, strengthen their self-defense system, and lead and embrace the renaissance of the Yazidi community.
“At the conference, we discussed many issues on our role in building a peaceful and democratic society and made decisions to develop the Renaissance of the Yazidi community.”
The decisions made at the conference are as follows:
1-For the success of the ‘Peace and Democratic Society’ process led by Leader Apo, the architect of the Yazidi Renaissance, it is necessary to ensure Leader Apo’s physical freedom.
2- The struggle must focus on the “Right to Hope”.
3-For the renaissance of the Yazidi community, education and mental transformation based on the science of Jineology are a must.
4-Women must strengthen their self-defense against all kinds of attacks, gender-based violence and femicide.
5- The struggle must be strengthened to build a democratic and communal life based on gender equality in the Yazidi homeland.
After the announcement of the final declaration, women chanted slogans such as “Long live leader Apo” , “No life without the leader” and “Jin Jiyan Azadî”.
