Clashes erupted in Manbij over rape of 7-year-old girl

Clashes erupted between the members of “Al-Bobanna” tribe and members of the Sultan Suleiman Shah Division, known as “al-Amshat” in Manbij over the rape of a 7-year-old girl by a member of the division.

News Center- Clashes erupted between the members of “Al-Bobanna” tribe and members of the Sultan Suleiman Shah Division, also known as “al-Amshat” in Manbij, a city in eastern Aleppo, over the kidnapping and rape of a 7-year-old girl by a member of the Turkish-backed division, which operates under the banner of the “National Army”, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on Monday.

 “The incident triggered broad public anger in the region, amid unconfirmed reports about casualties in the clashes which are still underway,” the SOHR said.

Armed groups kidnap people

According to local sources, a Turkish-backed armed group raided a house near a school in the city of Manbij on December 21, arresting a young man. The group took the young man to Al-Jazirah road and killed him. The members of Turkish-backed armed groups executed a person by firing squad in the Al Sarb neighborhood of Manbij. The Turkish-backed factions also raided a house near the Qasr al-Banat School in Manbij, increasing tension among Arab people and killing an Arab man identified as Halil Abbo.

The armed groups operating under the name of “Military Police” of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) have executed many civilians since they took control of Manbij. They have targeted the houses of Arabs, Turkmens and Kurds and forcibly displaced them for allegedly helping the Manbij Military Council.
