Children of Shengal celebrate April 4

Yesterday, the Organization for Yazidi Community, Language and Education held activities for children in Shengal to mark the birthday of Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan, April 4.

Shengal (Sinjar)- Yesterday, the Organization for Yazidi Community, Language and Education held two activities in Shengal for children to mark the birthday of the Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan. The organization held an activity at the school of the Xerbatê Qewala village, located in Shengal’s Kersê Valley and another in the Shengal city center.

The activity in the Kersê Valley was participated in by dozens of children and the Çiyayê Şengal (English: Mount Sinjar). At the activity, children played many games such as musical chairs, tug of war and carrying eggs in the sack. The winners of the games received gifts from their teachers.

Two of the children participating in the activity, Semîra Hesen and Selwa Şemo wished a happy birthday to Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan. “Today was a nice day for us. We sang many songs, danced and participated in the competitions. We want to thank our teachers for organizing such an activity. We hope such an activity will be organized next year,” they told NuJINHA.
